TOOSonix: Desktop application for healthcare professionals

Background

The medtech company TOOSonix develops innovative dermatological devices based on High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). The technology enables the non-invasive treatment of skin conditions such as precancerous lesions or non-melanoma skin tumors—precisely, without surgery, and without anesthesia.

For use in dermatology practices and treatment centers, TOOSonix needed a reliable software solution that would enable medical professionals to safely operate the device and intuitively document treatments. In addition to a user-friendly interface, the focus was particularly on stability, hardware integration, and secure data communication.

Challenge

  • The software had to meet the requirements of a modern medical environment while also enabling direct communication with the hardware. Among other things, this involved:

  • providing an intuitive user interface for physicians and medical professionals,

  • displaying treatment data in real time,

  • managing patient sessions digitally,

  • ensuring stable low-level communication between the device and the software,

  • and guaranteeing reliable device control for daily practice use.

Reliability, clear usability, and stable hardware integration are particularly crucial in the MedTech environment, as the software is a direct part of the clinical treatment process.

Implementation

VIALUTIONS developed a desktop application for operating the HIFU system in everyday clinical practice. The solution helps dermatologists and medical professionals perform and document treatments via a modern and intuitive user interface.

The software enables:

  • control of the medical device,

  • real-time visualization of treatment and device data,

  • management of patient sessions,

  • and monitoring of relevant system parameters during treatment.

In addition, we implemented system-level communication between the hardware and the application to ensure stable and high-performance data transmission. Particular attention was paid to a robust interface architecture and reliable device integration under Windows.

Technologies:

  • Development of the desktop application using C#
  • Deployment on Windows 10
  • Use of the Windows SDK for low-level system functions
  • Hardware integration and low-level communication
  • Real-time data visualization and device monitoring
  • Development of stable interfaces for device control
  • UX-focused user interface for healthcare professionals

Result

The solution developed provided TOOSonix with a stable and user-friendly software platform for deploying its dermatological HIFU technology in clinical settings. The application helps healthcare professionals efficiently perform and document treatments, while also serving as the technical foundation for reliable device communication and future enhancements.
