The coronavirus pandemic presented us with problems we hadn’t faced before: working remotely with the whole team, then returning to the office under restrictions. Over the course of two years, we have managed to work out our own ways of dealing with these difficulties – and in style!

vBooking – book a workspace via Teams

Need is the mother of invention: our experience during the pandemic gave rise to vBooking, an application that allows employees to book workstations in the office from the company intranet and Microsoft Teams. We don’t need to explain how much easier it is to organize work in times when a large part of the team works remotely. Despite the pandemic, many people have changed jobs and only come into the office a few times a month. It’s a challenge to ensure they can go into the office ready to work and maintain sanitary restrictions, but vBooking makes it a few clicks away.

vBooking – Smart City solution for SkeyNetwork Challenge

vBooking is one of our flagship products, but it wasn’t until the Skey Network Challenge that we were able to look at it more broadly. If booking jobs remotely works so well, why not extend it to more extensive processes like events or coworking on a larger scale? vBooking on a larger scale fits perfectly with the idea of Smart City, which particularly inspires us.

Combining our booking system with blockchain has opened up more possibilities for us. We developed the concept of an application, consisting of two parts: the administrator and the user. Let’s discuss it with a concrete example – a company meeting for people from different cities.

The administrator – the meeting organizer – determines and reserves the room and parking, and then uploads the information to the Skey Network using the app. From the participant’s point of view, this is very convenient: he can find all the necessary data in the app right from the start: from directions to the location of the parking space, to the signposting of the meeting room itself. What’s more, using the mobile app, he can not only open the doors of a building or a specific room but also the lift or the barrier in the car park.

The first access request sent from the application is equivalent to confirming arrival at the meeting – without the need to register at the reception.

Such a system is convenient for the user, but also provides greater control for the administrator. Access to rooms and information is granted for exactly as long as it is needed, user activities are visible to the organizer and the whole event is easy to coordinate.

Our solution went through the entire evaluation process in the Skey Network Challenge and was among the ten highest rated. Will we develop it further? Of course!
